Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu [ ep 9]

 Sorry if I'm a bit insensitive, but when Mako was afraid to find out whether she was pregnant or not, and snatched the pregnancy kit from Saki's hands, I just find that scene very funny. Especially from the stunned look on Saki's face! I totally get Mako's reaction, being pregnant when you don't want it is definitely something most women fear the most in their life. Her question on why only women get pregnant was hilarious too. I was half expecting Saki to say "it's the order of life, no questions asked" but I'm not going to deny the fact that the question did come across my mind numerous times lolz. The question may sound idiotic on Mako's behalf, but really, sometimes you can't help but wonder why is it like this? 

Anyways, then it turned out that Mako was just scaring herself and did anyone find her dizziness a bit of a coincidence? If you're not pregnant, then I'd suggest you go for a body checkup because being dizzy for a prolonged time is definitely not healthy. But so, Yay! for her not being pregnant. She can now focus on work. I really don't mind her new boss at the diner, seemed insensitive but much better than all the douchebags she'd dated before. Though, I'm totally surprised by the fact that he's a father! The writers have a way to screw things up every now and then.

Good to have an older member in the club xD

 And Emi! I feel so pity for her~ She'd finally found the courage to tell Yu the truth, and followed her instincts and guts, but the ex-girlfriend had to mess it up. Girl, your time is up. You should just stay aside and move on with your petty life with the candidate your father chose. For someone like her to dump Yu and then come back begging to crawl back into his life, what the hell? I'd really hate it if Yu allows that to happen. I'm not siding by Emi, even if Yu doesn't end up with Emi, I'm fine with it. I just don't like it that the ex-girlfriend thinks she can just WALTZ IN and OUT of people's lives without thinking of the consequences she's causing!

Takei appeared too!

Saki deserved some applaud and pat on her shoulder. It's great to see her going for interviews again, not giving up on her dream job. And she actually scolded Shiraishi not only for herself, but on Misuzu's behalf. Saki's to blame too but if the guy doesn't even know what to do at this point, he deserves a scolding. Saki also finally mustered up enough courage to call Misuzu out to meet. I hope they'll reach an understanding regarding the mess.  

LASTLY...

Am I the only one super excited to see Namie Amuro appear briefly in this episode? I never expected her to show up, but the moment I saw her name on the whiteboard backstage "Namie Amuro Life Style Tour 2011" got me hyped for a second. I know it shouldn't come as a surprise since they're working for a lighting company and Namie sang the theme songs for the show, but to see her appear for like 30seconds was an awesome surprise! The only downside of it was the lip-syncing. She wasn't singing live, but then again, it was for the show, not a real concert. xDD

Rating: 9/10 - Namie's appearance is a huge plus for the episode xDD 

Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu [ep 8]

Surprise surprise, the one character I didn't care for in the past 8 episodes, had somehow become the most mature of the lot? Mako had finally begun to take baby steps towards independence and not think about love after she quit her job. Okay, not baby steps, rather a huge leap from what I thought she'd be able to do. In fact, she has become a much better person, compared to the other two. Kudos to her for getting back up from the fall and realized something more important. 

As for Saki, I feel sorry for her only for the part where her family found out her real part-time job. At least, she still cared a lot for the family. Can't blame her much if all the companies she'd gone for didn't want her right? However, I've begun to think her actions on the love department was a bit irresponsible. Now that her secret's out, she should at least meet up with Misuzu and apologize, or at least, say something about it to her, instead of avoiding. Takumi was also another person who should step it up. If you want a divorce, then ASK for a divorce. Not camping out in your office and act like nothing's happened. It's not fair for both sides.

So Yu's planning on going back to America to focus on his career. Yes, run all the way back there when you fail miserably in love. I do support the idea that if you can't succeed in love, you'll have your career to fall back on during bad times. Mako decided to venture into cooking (her favorite past-time) when relationships don't work for her. The same goes for Emi. She'd been scouted by another more successful lighting company and wondering if she should go for it. I say, GO FOR IT! You'll never know what will happen until you do! Besides, if Yu and you (no pun intended) are meant to be together, you'll surely meet again.

What a letdown when Yu asked her to go with her to US instead by the end of the epi. Now Emi is going to be torn between both sides. Stay or go?

Thoughts:

 Character development is there, obviously when Mako transitioned from a someone looking seriously for love, learned the hard way that sometimes, love is not everything and picked herself up again. (Except when her mistakes in the past begins to plague her - pregnancy? Seriously, don't even get me started on this. Have they not heard of preventive measures before?)

Saki too from someone who never thought she'll find love, found one but getting involved with a married guy. As if that's not enough, the guy's indecisiveness is beginning to bring down that relationship. 

Emi, what can I say about her? Forever attached to Yu, even though she acted tough around him. She's the only character I'd say that hasn't quite evolved much. She's practically just being the same person as before after a falling out with a great candidate, Takei. But you have to go and waste him. Emi should seriously THINK PROPERLY what she wants in her life and not lingering around Yu too much! If you like him, then SAY IT.

Rating: 7.5/10 - I want the original soundtrack now lol

Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu [ep 6]

In this episode,  we finally get the verdict of Yu's expected breakup with Hikari, which is just like a time bomb waiting to explode. It is a no brainer that both of them will not last long. Yu IS one of the main male leads anyway so he can't be with another girl other than the main female. Although I was actually hoping that Emi would somehow end up with Takei.

I was cheering for Takei initially when Emi turns down the request to go see Yu but I guess first love is not to be taken lightly. I feel so sorry for Takei, more so than for Yu really. Emi, who finally chooses to rush to Yu's side rather than stay and support her new boyfriend in the tournament, may have done a mistake in this case. But it's so evident that if Yu actually asks to reconcile their relationship, I'm 100% sure Emi will not even think twice and leap into his arms happily. So when Takei realizes that day will come and he'll never surpass Yu in Emi's heart, his decision to break up with Emi is heart wrenching but in the long run, it'll do everybody involve good. So, way to go Takei! *But I still have hope for these two*

As for Saki and Shiraishi, well what else can I say?They're not exactly doing anything wrong behind Misuzu. They're not committing adultery but rather, a friendship that is deeper than anything else. Not that I support what they're doing but I think they need each other, as companions to share their troubles and soothe each other. That's not wrong. We also find out that Shiraishi has a problem with his fertility and they will need special help if they want to have babies. I can foresee Misuzu's disappointed face when she hears this news. And it's no surprise that Shiraishi finds comfort in Saki. Overall, I just find their relationship pretty sweet. Yeah, sue me xDD

Mako Mako Mako....I think she has the worst choice of men in the show. First, a douchebag and now, a control freak who thinks of nothing but sex sex sex. Sometimes, being too serious and get straight to the point can do her more good than being timid and obey every single word the guy tells her. Upon telling the psycho that she's not comfortable with their relationship, the next day, we see rumors spreading around her office about her 'scandalous life' with the men. I bet the psycho is getting back at her for refusing to surprise surprise...have intercourse with him. What a maniac. And the result? She's on the verge of losing her job and shall join Saki, though at least Saki still has a part-time job that pays well. Mako is also no doubt, the weakest character of the lot. She should really get a grip of her own life and not let men or rather, love mess it up anymore than it is now.

We don't see much of Misuzu at all in this episode but I'm waiting for her to find out about Saki and her husband. Mako, again...I just hope that the day she realizes that love isn't everything will come sooner for her. As for Emi's case, I hope this isn't the last we see of Takei. He's too good a guy to just dump and forget.

Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu [ep 5]

The writers really know how to play around with people's feelings in this episode. Things are looking brighter for Emi when Takei musters enough courage to confess, which she of course is taken aback (though I think deep down, she sees it coming, well who wouldn't when the guy has been so persistent). 

Love the barbecue outing they had together but that's also where Saki finds out that Shiraishi is actually her newfound friend's husband, whom she also kissed but thank god that they didn't go any further than that. *though the preview for ep6 doesn't look very convincing*

Takei gets his dream come true and most probably worst fear of getting declined. It might as well be his first confession lolz...judging by how nervous and fidgety he gets. Even Emi looks way more calm than he is, when she should be the one thinking how to solve this whole mess. Emi isn't ready for a new love, when she clearly still hasn't let go of Yu completely. The little argument they has regarding their past at the woods proves that. 

And by the way, just who exactly was the one who gets dumped? Because I'm dumbfounded by the fact that both of them thought that they were dumped by the other. that was funny. IF this is the reason for the breakup after 2 weeks of dating, they have some serious issue to solve here.

Then we get a little insight into Mako's troubled relationship with a control freak boyfriend. I have no words for her. It seems that every guy she meets has some issue going on. It's like she has no luck at all when it comes to love. There isn't much of them in the episode but that's okay because I don't really care about this pair, to tell the truth.

Saki...oh girl, have you been cornered to the edge of the cliff? I know there's a saying that desperate times call for desperate measures but satisfying some old pervert's lust isn't really going to get you anywhere. Yes, he can of course introduce you to your dream job, probably get you as far as some high position at a famous publishing company but there'll only be a silent regret in the future.

While Shiraishi is having hard time satisfying his wife's desire to have a child, he still has the time to look for Saki at her workplace. But kudos to him for having the guts to stand up and punch that old pervert. I'd give him cookies for that xDD

It's only a matter of time for his wife to find out about their relationship. When that happens, I won't be surprised if she does something stupid and irrational. It's going to be a heavy price to pay, Shiraishi. I know I did mention that I'm rooting for these both. I do, but if Shiraishi wants to be with Saki, he better break off things clearly with his wife and not resort to adultery.

Meanwhile, wifey seems to be busy thinking of how to make babies.

So I said that the writers are a bit cruel right? That's because I totally feel sorry for Yu when he gets rejected STRAIGHT TO HIS FACE by the supposed future father-in-law just because he's not a doctor and can't take over whatever damn practice he's doing. What kind of stupid conclusion is that? If he's really thinking of his daughter's happiness like how he claimed, I don't see how forcing your daughter to be with another guy who's a doctor going to make her any happier. Heck, she might even resent you for the rest of her life! He's obviously just thinking about his own career. Hate stereotype characters like these.

This is just a trivia. I was curious from ep1 what phone models Emi and Saki are using...so I finally found Emi's phone model. But I can't figure out Saki's yet. It's a bit too square for my liking but I think it fits Emi's personality. Tough.

Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu [ep 4]

Okay, I changed my mind. I prefer the nervous Takei guy who's actually a policeman lolz...his boating experience with Emi is just too epic to ignore! I totally love them both to bits in this episode.At first I thought that he's a bit annoying for pestering Emi with mails and phone calls a bit too much for a stranger who just met at some random event. I can totally understand when Emi needs like a minute to crack her mind who was the guy when he first left his contact details. Talk about desperation. But the guy's just expressing his affection towards her, a little too much maybe, but at least his conduct isn't as bad as Mako's co-worker (which I will discuss later).

So the boat  = couple thingy that Saki mentioned the night before as a warning for Emi happens but I really don't think the guy has other things on mind other than trying to make use of the time. Well, you're at a lake, if you're not strolling or eating, why not try boating??? Right? Emi's expression when he's slowly and carefully rowing (okay, maybe a bit too slow for a guy), until she has to offer taking over the rowing, totally cracks me up! Emi...gal, you should never EVER challenge or question a manly guy's ego like this! haha... though I think I'd actually think of doing the same as Emi if I were her in similar situation xDD

Sweet guy he is!

One thing to avoid when you're out with another guy is definitely the guy you once had crush or worst, STILL has crush on. That's exactly what happens when Emi and Takei stumble into Yu and his gf. Frankly, I look forward to Emi and Takei's donuts experience because they are just too cute with their awkwardness. Yu's expression when they part ways as he turns back to see Emi and Takei only proves 2 things. One, he can't believe Emi actually finds herself a partner either this fast or ever at all. Second, he still likes her.

Then comes Mako's story. The co-worker still pursues her without even trying to hide it. However, his advice to her is true! A guy like her boss isn't the kind of guy you should even think of. The only thing that kind of turns me off though is the last part when Mako finally hears from the boss himself that he likes Momoko (her younger sister) and wishes to date her etc...leaving Mako in tears, and what a coincidence (MAJOR EYEROLL HERE) that the said co-worker is nearby to comfort her. Stalker much?

And the expected kiss for the damsel in distress, followed by the bed scene (another eyeroll). Forget the kiss, the bed scene is totally going to happen anyway, girl can't stay a virgin forever, but isn't that a bit too rushed? The guy's good enough though to actually ask whether it's okay to proceed. But I don't think Mako's actually ready for it, she's just running away from her depression. Doing this to try and forget her old flame is not exactly the right way to do it though. Well, as much as I don't agree with her action, it's a change for her character. Whether or not the relationship will last is another different story though. Because looks like co-worker has some excessive controlling issues going on ...

As for the married couple. Shiraishi seems to have made up his mind to move forward with what's in front of him at the moment. That's a beautiful wife and the plan to have a family.

And Saki seems to have deepen her friendship with Shiraishi's wife. Time will only tell when Saki or the wife finds out each other's identity. I'm looking forward to that which will definitely occur. There's so little scene of Saki and Shiraishi in this episode, I feel something major is missing in this particular episode. But Emi-Takei scenes kinda make up for that. Writers, onegai! Make more Saki-Shiraishi scenes soon and definitely a donut outing for Emi-Takei too!

Rating: 9/10 - for the great music featured and BOAT!

Sorry but I just can't help but think I should comment about this particular scene. I do painting at home quite often with my dad back at home and I love it! Except the part when I get paints on my face/skin or clothes. So umm...when I saw Emi paint over the peeling part I really feel like telling her to first scrape off the peeled parts before painting it. Yeah, it's so trivial xD (I can't believe I actually wrote 4 lines of these just to talk about this)

The girls having fun smearing paints all over each other...

Well from what we used last time, the wood/metal paint....they don't come off easily and totally troublesome once they get on clothes. I'm wondering if the girls know that before they actually smear paints on faces and those beautiful expensive looking clothes.

And the HAIR! Well, the paint don't look like the concentrated type. They look more like the ones you paint walls (weird) but great episode though!

Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu [ep 3]

Thank god for more men in this show! Initially, I was complaining about the lack of male counterparts in this though it's obviously focused on the four main girls. I'm glad they widen the choices and bring in more guys for the girls. There's a particular one I like a lot, and that's Mako's co-worker, who tries to befriend her. I'm sure he has something for her, because let's face it, how many guys actually bring their own bento to work?! Lolz...that scheme is so obvious, but Mako's too blind to even see it through!I don't know why Mako still likes that douchebag, seriously! Can't you see that he has nothing for you? He even goes and sleep with someone he just met! And that someone is actually Mako's little sister who is her total opposite. Mako is beyond rescue if she still pursues that douche even after knowing about the one night stand he had with her sister, well..providing if she finds out soon, which I'm sure she will.

As for the married couple, they might as well just get a divorce because the guy obviously has no feelings whatsoever left for her wife. Their marriage at this point is worst than being stale. I can't really put the blame on anyone of them both yet at this point because the wife is obviously trying to save their marriage by thinking about building a family, and Shiraishi, I guess he just thought that being the way they are is enough for him. But that is till he meets an outgoing girl like Saki. Saki...I really do feel sorry for her. The career part, definitely. I feel so happy for her when she receives the call saying she can move forward with the official interview for the publishing job she has dreamed of.

And she's a responsible daughter too. Yeah, minus the fact that she lied to her mother about her real job at the moment, I'm surprised she still gives money to them every month, without a full-time job, but a part-time night club job. That said, I'm so disappointed when she finds out she can't get the publishing job in the end. Sometimes, I think they should cut her some slack. And the bad news is coupled with her finding out that Shiraishi is actually married. Shiraishi is such an honest guy (well...he did tell her the truth).



Oh anybody else feel the same heart-shattering moment as I did for Emi when Yu musters up enough courage and confesses to everybody during lunch about his marriage plan with Hikari. Emi, don't worry gal...I'm sure you'll find someone better than Yu! 

And so she did...though I'm not sure whether he's actually a good guy yet. But he's pretty decent so far, albeit too nervous? Emi, you should not miss this chance to befriend more guys lolz...Well, the guy's tall! I mean, Karina in real life is pretty tall, and she's only at the guy's neck xDD

Thoughts:

One thing I like about this show is it's not draggy, it doesn't stand still at any point for too long to bore us viewers. And when I thought that we're going to be stuck with only 3 guys in this show, they prove me wrong with this pleasant surprise - bringing another 2 new guy characters. There's always new elements installed and of course, the music and atmosphere, everything looks great and pretty. But I also like how the writers aren't trying too hard to impress us. They seem to just go along with the flow naturally and bringing these characters closer to us. I'm pretty sure girls out there will find something along the plot that relates to their lives, even just a little xD

I'm rooting for Saki and Shiraishi at the moment, because they seem like they deserve some happiness in their miserable life. They get along well and their chemistry seems great for now. To tell the truth, I can't help but feel bit sad when Saki decides to cut off their ties right there and then after knowing Shiraishi's married. Initially, I thought Saki will be THE annoying character in this show, coz there's always one in every show like this. However, it turns out that she just might be my favorite. I still don't care for Mako but I do hope Emi will be able to forget about Yu. 

"They say you don't have a chance to meet that special someone, but maybe we just don't notice we do" - I like this quote for some reason xD

Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu [ ep 2]

The game of fate? That looks real interesting! So the episode advances in a just the right pace, albeit lack of action perhaps?


Emi's butt slapping habit hasn't failed to amuse me for some reason. 

She's heartbroken having been told by her former love interest that he's getting married, to one of her clients and all the more saddening is that fact that he forgotten about her birthday. But nothing's all bright and beautiful for the couple. As soon as we get to know they're planning on getting hitched, the guy seems moody and it appears that he's not really in a rush to meet the partner's parents, which got me bewildered. So whose idea is it to get married in the first place? If it's the guy, then he should be wasting no time to meet his future in-laws now right? It's pretty obvious then from his laments to Emi (the only person he can talk about anything with), that the girl's rather persistent. 

From the ending scene, Emi sees the girl in the middle of a marriage interview or 'omiyai'. So what's a girl already planning on marrying her boyfriend be doing an omiyai with a totally different guy? Will Emi have a chance with her love interest afterall?

As for out too-serious girl, Mako, I really don't get the whole virgin issue with the boss. That is just a bit too far-fetched. So she likes her boss, who seems to have a problem with her being too serious. But she's not giving up and believe that if she just becomes his friend for now, the friendship will somehow bloom into something else - a theory Saki laughed upon for she never believed that a guy and girl who are friends can advance into something deeper. I can't sympathize with Mako and her issues. But I do salute her for her perseverance, despite how many times the guy rejects her.

The only married couple in the show. What can I say about them? I won't even know that they're married to each other if not for Emi's revelation in the first episode. These two are more like co-workers than husband and wife. That's the main problem with their relationship. While we see the wife trying to mend things by suggesting to build a house (the hubby points out that she's the one who wants to be independent before, which probably causes them to be distant), the hubby shrugs off the idea. So obvious that he doesn't even love the woman in front of his eyes any longer.

Well, who would when there's someone much younger and attractive in front of him! And here's where Saki enters. Saki begins to realize some truth in Mako's words about love blooming from friendship and reflects upon her own pasts. Are we going to see a more mature and responsible Saki from now on? Didn't think Mako actually can change her...so, because of a chance meeting and a fountain pen, Saki finds herself attracted to a middle aged guy, the hubby. I'm pretty sure she still doesn't know that he's married. The guy finds Saki very amusing too. I like these two, I'm all for them really. Though their age don't match, there's more chemistry between them than between the guy and his wife.

Not forgetting, the minor character who might appear to be the opponent of Mako in the future. Mako's younger sister is played by Gouriki Ayame, who appears in this episode briefly but enough to make an impression. Seems like she's taken some interest in Mako's crush at company. Are they really sisters?! One is too serious, the other playful? Uhhmmmm

Thoughts:
I'm curious to see how Saki and Shiraishi (the hubby) advances from here on. Because in the next episode, looks like the wife will somehow make friends with the girls. Some kind of conflict will occur for sure. As for Mako, I really can't care less about her and the boss, for all I care, the younger sister can have him.
