Boku to Star no 99 Nichi [ep 6]

Yay for getting out of the city! I really felt like I was breathing in fresh air just seeing the countryside for once, and no more concrete buildings everywhere, which was a bit suffocating? xD In this episode, Kouhei made the trip to the outskirts and Yuna followed him, gave him the bento she made especially for him and ended up getting lost while going back. Kouhei had no choice but to search for her, sometimes, I wonder if a real life bodyguard is as busy as him.

Photobucket

I don't think I've ever mentioned this before...I LOVE KOUHEI'S SMILEEE!!!!!~~

Photobucket
Cute...
And the bento she made for him, cuteness overload!

Notice the CACTUS-like Cucumbers? LOL

Photobucket

Could this be Yuna's rival? Kuma, Kouhei's junior is also working at the observatory he is planning on switching job to. I sense some jealousy from Yuna's glance. But Kuma could be a good match for Kouhei, they both can't live without stars xD

And why is Takanabe suddenly goody goody with the kids? That was like out of nowhere. But it was sweet to watch though. Takanabe's EPIC FAILURE was when he ran out of fuel! *facepalm*

Photobucket

I happen to notice the kids were eating NON-STOP whenever the scenes changed to them in Takanabe's BMW. Corns...and then some cookies, and then ice-cream?! Clever kids were trying to eat as much as they can to fill up their stomach taking advantage of Takanabe, since their uncle Kouhei probably won't be able to afford them longer HAHA.

The BEAR ...I wanna hug it.

And yay for Kouhei to have more interaction with other female characters than Yuna ^__^

Photobucket

But why did he turn down the offer to work at the observatory? As much as I wanted him to go back tohis old job as bodyguard, I was hoping he'd be able to chase his dream! Arghhh...ok fine, I know there won't be any show to shoot without him in the city close by Yuna. So Ai Kato was just doing a special appearance?! Was hoping she'd stay longer than just one episode, with so few scenes!

Photobucket

Last but not least, let's not forget all about Tae Sung. He appeared in just one or two scenes but he helped Momo to audition in front of Yuna's manager. So kind of him.

Photobucket

Rating: 8.5/10 - for the countryside shoot! Lovely place.

And this...
                                                  LMAO

Boku to Star no 99 Nichi [ep 5]

This episode is carefree and light comedy everywhere, that said, I'm enjoying it. I felt the previous episodes were a bit too serious with Tae Sung's issue and the reporter, who really is beginning to annoy me a lot, especially in this particular episode. His pursue towards Tae Sung and all his dirty tricks made him look so bad and I was waiting for the writers to justify his actions, none at the moment, which kinda cause his character to be one dimensional.

I think it was nice to watch the beginning part of the drama they were shooting. Scenes we've never seen before and I totally get the excitement when Kouhei and the rest were watching with their eyes wide open.

Photobucket

Back to the episode, totally love the increasing interaction between Yuna and Kouhei's niece/nephew. And Kouhei's actions were at least bearable with less over-exaggeration, though I've come to accept the fact that his character most probably was meant to be like that.

Photobucket

By the way, please tell me that I'm not the only one who found the part where Yuna fell off the cliff which looked probably more than enough to kill or at least break any bones into pieces, totally wth when in the next scene, we saw her lying, still in one whole piece with just a minor head injury? Do the writers think that was even an ounce believable? We're not idiots lolz.

Photobucket
One piece, and not a trickle of blood.

Oh by the way, I think I know what Yuna was cooking at Kouhei's place which they claimed was spicy. I forgot the exact name of the food, but it was sold like every week at this night market nearby. Tried before, not exactly my type but it was alright. You can choose whether you want it really spicy or mild.

Photobucket

Anyone else thinks Yuna's usage of cloth pegs creative and totally random? xDD At least she looked fine with them lol.

Photobucket

How I wish Kouhei was more sensitive to his surroundings besides thinking about stars all the time? I like hints of romance between the two of them. Kouhei's decision to quit as bodyguard, didn't see that coming so it was quite surprising. I was so sure that he was half-expecting Yuna to stop him! His look revealed all. Hints of slight disappointment when she didn't. But oh poor Yuna, came all the way to the observatory just to see how he was doing, making him bento, no less! Kouhei sure is one lucky guy, the only thing is, he still doesn't get it. xD

Photobucket
LOL at this scene. RICE?! He could spot a single RICE from that far away?

Rating: 8/10 - light comedy throughout makes it easier and fun to watch.

Boku to Star no 99 Nichi [ep 3]

Daichi's cover gets blown when Kouhei's memory serves him well but Daichi makes sure he never opens his mouth about the past, telling him that the guy he was before is dead.

Photobucket
If only this is real...

From ep1, we know Daichi has his eyes on Han Yuna and hopes to win her heart but to no avail as she treats him as a co-star. Conversely, she's definitely has something for Kouhei whether she realizes it or not. For example, when Kouhei calls in sick (pretends to be so he can go search the mysterious guy), she gets restless and even phones him to ask his condition. Unsatisfied with that, she actually sneaks out to his house all equipped with ingredients for porridge. Kouhei sure is lucky.

Photobucket
Daichi, you should've taken the fried tofu she offered because really, that's all you'll get from her.

As for Tae-Sung (mystery guy) and Momo, they meet again on the streets. I won't be surprised if the writers are spicing up the show with romance between the two. They do share something in common. Interest in dancing.

Photobucket
Kouhei's trademark is always the beaten up face. I pity him no longer as I think he's immune already.

His estranged sister is back, as casually as ever after being dumped by her bf. So I take it that the Okinawa trip didn't go that well after all, as opposed to her few lovely video calls.
Photobucket
LMAO at the takoyaki-san's face,it looks like she just encountered a ghost, rather than an actress.

Basically, nothing much happens in this episode except for these few points:

1) Mystery guy's name is Tae-Sung and he's Yuna's long lost brother (how cliche but let's not fret)
2) Yuna's more than work-related relationship with Kouhei or rather, her concern for him is as conspicuous as it gets.
3) Yuna and TS finally meet but TS gets all upset for some reason and tells her that their status is different now

It's an overall, very cliche plot and kinda predictable show. I'll still continue watching despite all that maybe because I haven't really lost interest in the characters yet. But I do hope they don't drag the whole sister-brother issue too long and reveal to us the reason they parted ways. Besides that, keep the comedy coming.

Yuna, you should learn tricks to disguise more than this.

There is something very wrong with this scene

Boku to Star no 99 Nichi [ep 2]

The show's progressing faster than i expected. At least, the aggressive cunning reporter is closer to finding out the mysterious person Han Yuna has been continuously searching for ever since her stay in Japan. A brief encounter at one of the shooting places allows him to follow the Korean guy to the night club he's working at and digging more info about him. Another scandalous scoop he's hoping for.

Photobucket

Photobucket

On the lighter side, Kouhei finds himself in a 24 hour duty ever since Han Yuna tries to escape ALL the time. But Kouhei has learned the tricks she'll use and manages to keep her enclosed in her hotel. As for his niece, Momo, she's been trying to reach or meet the star's manager in hopes of being discovered and if lucky, on the road to fame. Momo's been wanting to be a dancer, no wonder she's been wearing that headphone all the time.
Photobucket

And what a surprise and the SHOCK when it's revealed that Han Yuna's co-star, Daichi has a past he is definitely not ready to share with the world. But when he finds out that Kouhei is her classmate back in school, his worry escalates and in pure anxiety whenever he sees him.
Photobucket
This is definitely creative. But the comparison is cute, except for the eyes. Daichi was Fried Chicken!

The little peck on Kouhei's face is totally misleading lolz...she can't admit the fact that she wants to return the missing puzzle piece to him, instead, secretly inserting it into his pocket. It makes it all the more interesting when Daichi is there, hidden, to watch the whole thing. Where's the reporter?! Too bad he missed this xD

Rating: 7.5/10 - Kouhei is still shouting too much

Boku to Star no 99 Nichi [ ep 1]

After finishing the first episode, it totally brings me back to Ayumi Hamasaki’s music video, Fate whereby she’s acting as herself promoting in Hong Kong, has a Chinese bodyguard and gradually has affection for him. This is similar to the MV with the only contrast is the actress now is a South Korean star, and has a Japanese bodyguard during her filming in Japan. Namiki Kouhei (bodyguard) however prefers watching stars over an actress who escapes almost every other night into the streets of Japan for food tasting and mingle with the locals, of course, under disguise. Namiki is forced to take on the job by his boss who can’t resist the big bucks she can get hold of upon completion of the 99 days of contract.

Photobucket
I’m not familiar with the Korean actress, Kim Tae Hae, other than knowing she was in Iris, of which the first episode, I just browsed through and recognized her. So I can’t compare her acting abilities with the other works she’s done. Though I’m not a big fan of Korean dramas (no bashing here, but I just don’t watch them), I do think this is a pretty nice collaboration between two countries. If you actually google her name up and put Japanese after, you get news of which a Japanese netizens are bashing her regarding something that happened long time ago. But I’m not going to go there. Each to their own opinions so since I’m neutral, I’m just enjoying the show as it is.

Photobucket
All in all, we have both main characters, Namiki (Nishijima Hidetoshi) and Han Yuna (Kim) though despite their differences and initial misunderstanding, coupled with Namiki’s reluctance to actually be her bodyguard, naturally we’re going to have them both growing closer to each other considering the time spent and probably Yuna’s going to be touched by Namiki’s help whenever she’s in trouble. At times though, I think Namiki’s expressions are a bit exaggerated and lots are shouting is involved.
Photobucket
Other than the two leads, there’s also this Takanabe Daichi (Yuna’s co-star) who seems to have more than just professional feelings towards her. From the look of it, he shall be Namiki’s opponent in the love triangle soon I suppose. But nothing’s going to be interesting without an aggressive reporter who hunts for the scandalous details of Yuna’s private life. Good to him back here though! I like the actor xD Yuna also has someone she’s searching for in Japan, there’s this keychain she’s constantly holding on her bag. We don’t know who he is yet but we know he’s quite a fine looking young man. I wonder if he’s Korean too like Yuna.
Photobucket
First episode is rather entertaining and thanks to the chemistry between Hidetoshi and Kim, it doesn’t feel that much awkward having different nationalities in a show. Actually I quite like it when they do collaborations like this, for example, bring in other stars from other countries.  Kim’s Japanese is quite fluent too and we get to hear some Korean (which will sound jibberish to me ^^ but it’s all good). I’m amused by the fact that Namiki is constantly bashed up in the show lolz…plasters all over his face, but it totally suits him.
