IS - Otoko demo Onna demo Nai Sei [ep 6]

Announcement: First of all, sorry for not updating these few days, had been real busy with stuffs. Basically, it's holiday this week and I'm home sweet home, so been spending some quality time with my family and friends. Anyways, here's a new post just for a simple update. xD

So, in this episode, Haru got the chance to meet up with other IS people, thanks to Miwa's introduction to Shizuku no Kai group. There, Haru shared some experiences and troubles with Inui-san, one of the members of the group. According to her, what he was feeling now may be called gender fluidity, meaning one may sometimes feel like a male, and other times, a female due to hormone imbalance.

Meanwhile, here's a short scene of Kenji with the father at some shop. The only point of this scene was to show the loving side of him towards children. I think this should lead to his story arc soon enough. It's been a bit draggy I have to admit and c'mon...it's about time to reveal his secret!

Haru still seemed to doubt his own feelings. His father realized something weird/different about him at home. He then found the piece of paper about the IS group in Haru's room by accident and went to meet Inui-san. There, he met Miwa's father. Finally! Both fathers meet each other and let the battle begin! Joking...but ah, I can't decide who to root for between the two, really. Haru's father is a really loving dad and though Miwa's family isn't perfect, her father actually cared about her, let her go to the new school just to meet Haru and he didn't force her to go for operation. Furthermore, he was the one introducing the group to Miwa. The only problem is the fact that he didn't really use the time to sit down and talk properly with Miwa about what she really wants. Miwa's mum is a mess, so that's out of the story.

At school, Miwa asked whether Haru already told Kenji the truth about his condition. Haru seemed to have made up his mind about the matter when he calmly told Miwa that he liked him. Way to go Haru! But of course, I still think that Haru should tell Kenji about himself rather than him knowing about it from somebody else.

Leon leon leon.... what can I say about him? Such an innocent guy. Such a sweet and sometimes....naive? Still, he's the comic relief in the show and totally served the purpose. The scene where he asked Miwa to join him in skateboarding...I was like omg! That was totally out of nowhere. The skateboarding. Didn't see it coming at all. Why skateboarding? lol...I'd have liked it though, because personally, I did try it last time and enjoyed it. But judging from Miwa's character, does she look like someone who'd go skateboarding? Oh but I have to say, the skateboards look AWESOME!!!

Miwa vented her anger on Leon, but he still didn't get the cue!

I forgot the name of this classmate in Haru's school who acts like a boy, but turned out to have been dating for about a year with another guy lolz...I kinda like her personality. The brief conversation between her and Haru was kinda funny. Especially the part about whether Haru's done it with Kenji or not, because of the rumor that they were both dating. haha...but the scene served a purpose. Haru began to question her own actions of keeping her secret from Kenji, someone precious to him.

notice how the both of them sit? hehehe

The secret's OUT! An anonymous person sent Kenji's father a letter, containing a picture of Haru back in his old school, wearing boy's uniform.

After hearing from Miwa's father that Haru is liking another guy, his father had been on the lookout, constantly observing him. I like the fact that Haru's mother pretended to not make a fuss out of it, but it was obvious she knew something was going on. This is the stark contrast between her and Miwa's mother.

At the end of the episode, Haru was asked to meet up with Kenji's father. He at first, politely asked Haru to not see Kenji anymore. And then it turned to begging...like literally. Personally, I totally understand why he did it. No matter what, Kenji's his only son and just like any father would do, he wants the best for his son. Though, it really is unfair for Haru to be forced like this to break off any relationship he has with Kenji, even their friendship.

Thoughts:
The story is progressing rather well. I can't believe there'll only be 10 episodes for this, if the information given is correct. Which means, there are only 4 episodes left! 3 only actually coz ep7 is out. Arghh...I'm gonna miss this show badly when it ends, that I'm sure of. Basically, I'm really curious of the ending. I didn't finish the manga, so I'm not sure whether Haru stays as IS or prefers to be of certain gender in the end. But either way, let's hope he and Miwa finds happiness being whoever they are. Rating: 8/10

  1. I'm sure that Kenji's story arc will probably be coming soon. And, Leon must've worked hard on designing those skateboards.
