11 Nin mo Iru! [ep 1]

I was looking forward to this really, the obvious reason being Hirosue Ryoko is back after her short absence in dramas/movies. However, I had doubt because she’s not the lead so I thought she’s just going to be some minor character who appears every now and then. But my! It exceeds my expectations! And that says a lot about a drama I didn’t actually think I’m going to follow through.

For Ryoko’s sake, I gave the first episode a shot and now I can truly say that this is one drama I’m definitely watching till the end for this season. Well there are few reasons for that. One of it is the huge amount of characters in it. A family of 10 members and one great thing about having that much people in the house is you’ll never get bored with them. All the kids are adorable, each to their own perks. Of course, the downside of it is you know for sure that they’ll not be getting as much character development, but it’s still too early to say, who knows maybe the writers will give them their moments soon. xDD

So, we have the father, a former photographer, who is currently out of work and survives through his eldest son’s wages. The eldest son, Kazuo (Kamiki Ryunosuke) works part-time in several places just to feed his huge family. Then we find out that the mother they’re having now is not their birth mother, except for the youngest son, Saigo (which also means the last, talk about creativity xD). So where does Ryoko come in? She’s actually a ghost wandering around the house, we don’t know why she’s still lingering around though. But out of everybody, only Saigo can see and hear her, even though he’s not her child. That’s special though me thinks ^__^

Ryoko also has the same name as his mother, Megumi. Well, to not confuse things, we’ll name Ryoko’s character as Megumi1 since she’s the first wife. Megumi1 starts bugging Saigo in his sleep one night and then proceeds to making friends with him as she asks him to find out how his mother and father meet. So then we get some flashbacks and understand that his father met Megumi2 through work and forgive me but I truly think that he actually got close to her because he needs someone to take care of his 7 children! Lolz…

We still don’t know how Megumi1 died, it’s not revealed in the first episode. But we know she’s a former stripper in night club and also met the father the same way – work related. And things just hit off from there, she gave birth to 7 children. Amazing! O_O

Saigo is really cute! He's a 7-year old pervert though HAHA...especially when he gets excited after Megumi1 tells him if he gets what she wants, she'll let him touch her boobs xD

Thoughts:
Overall, first episode was entertaining! Filled with comedy and really interesting to see Megumi1 around the family members and them having to act normal coz they're not supposed to see or hear her, except for Saigo. Though there are parts I disapprove of the father's actions, for example - how can he just rely on Kazuo when he's supposed to be the breadwinner? And still, he insists that they're not poor? Okay, not poor enough to sleep on the streets but you have a total of 9 mouths to feed! Work and stop loafing around! In that sense, I pity Kazuo being forced to take on the role of responsible eldest son. All in all, this took me by surprise~ and it's hella good to have Ryoko back on screen! Her numerous scenes with Saigo are heart-warming.

Rating: 9/10
